ACCOMPLISHMENTS

It is mowing season at Cow Creek!

I do not have a profound thought about mowing the grass this week.  The mundane activity is just what it is.  I go around in circles with a simple satisfaction that my path is marked by shorter grass.  That is some sort of consolation I suppose.

The funny thing about grass though…it grows…fast.

I like getting out with my dogs.  I like watching them as they run in sync with the mower.  The fact that they exhaust themselves is another small accomplishment.   They are German Shepherds after all.

Once their energy is expended, they find a shady spot under a tree and watch me methodically make ever- smaller circles.  They are intent on my every movement.

Sometimes (Once or twice) I have been known to get the mower a little close to the muddy areas.  Occasionally someone has to pull me out.  And then I go back to methodically mowing.

Maybe the takeaway is this, just because an accomplishment is small and monotonous does not mean it was not worthy of your energy...or your love.

We should celebrate the small accomplishments every day that get us out into the wild.  After all it may well be the small things that define us when we are gone.

Similarly, Just because a thought is not profound doesn’t mean we shouldn’t live in it.

This week I mowed the grass.

Much Love,
